资源简介:
Super-Eddington accretion is the most extreme and yet least understood phase ofthe history of a compact object. Here strong radiation pressure blows powerfulwinds which take away a significant fraction of matter and energy therebyinfluencing the growth of compact objects the binary systems and the starformation in their surroundings. Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) are the mostconcrete examples of super-Eddington accretors and give the unique opportunityto study such regime in great detail. Here we propose a XMM-Newton program tobuild the first statistical sample of ultrafast outflows in ULXs and quantifythe fundamental-plane relation between mechanical power X-ray luminosity andspectral hardness. This will also shed new light on black holes growth in the early Universe. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
