Number of SPAC merger deals in the U.S. 2019-2021, by status

One of the key objectives for a SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) is to raise money and then merge with a private company, which simultaneously takes the target company public. Between 2019 and February 2021, approximately one third of SPAC merger deals which had been announced in the United States had also been completed. However, the value of these 39 deals accounted for almost half of the value of all 117 SPAC merger deals.
