Aggregated data supporting the study of lightning mortality in the Peruvian Andes, 2017–2024

This record contains aggregated, non-identifiable analytical tables, publication figures, metadata, source documentation, quality-control reports, and reproducibility materials supporting the study “High-altitude lightning mortality despite moderate flash density in the Peruvian Andes: a nationwide geospatial study, 2017–2024”. The nationally validated cohort included 593 lightning-related deaths, of which 591 had district and altitude information. A total of 510 deaths occurred above 3,500 m. No individual-level SINADEF mortality records, personal identifiers, free-text cause-of-death chains, private validated cohorts, or district-date multiple-victim event line lists are included. The corresponding analytical software is archived in Zenodo at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.21764486 and maintained on GitHub at https://github.com/hygomez/lightning-mortality-peru.
