F. R. D’O. Monro

F. R. D'O. MonroSolicitor and cricketer. Born in Hampstead, London, Frederic Robert D'Oyly Monro went up to Oxford and, in 1904, became a member of the Law Society. By 1907, he was a partner in the firm of Slack, Monro & Atkinson which, in 1911, became Slack, Monro, Saw & Co. A second cousin once removed of Harold Monro, he was also the poet's solicitor. He became friendly with Harriet Shaw Weaver through his sister Ela who married Weaver's brother Edward. Served as lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery during the First World War. Administrator of the Estate of James Joyce (with Weaver) until 1951. Ronan Crowley
