Periphytic biofilms modulate priming effect of soil organic matter mineralization in paddy soil

The priming process of soil organic matter (SOM) mineralization is crucial in regulating soil carbon cycling. However, the role of periphytic biofilms (PB) at the water-soil interface in modulating SOM mineralization and its priming effect (PE) remains poorly understood. Therefore, we employed 13C-labeled PB and 13C-labeled glucose to investigate how PB biomass and presence influence SOM mineralization and PE in paddy soil.
