This dataset contains a bibliographic database of 238 scientific publications on monitoring methods used in apicultural research. The database was compiled as part of a PhD dissertation conducted in Hungary (DOI: 10.15476/ELTE.2026.266), investigating digital beekeeping technologies, hive weight monitoring, and predictive modelling of honey bee colonies. The publications were identified from the reference lists of the review papers by Meikle and Holst (2015), Marchal et al. (2020), Zaman and Dorin (2023), and Vincze et al. (2025), and were complemented by a systematic literature search in Google Scholar using the keywords "hive weight" and "hive scale". Each publication was manually classified according to its primary methodological focus using the OIP framework, according to Zaman and Dorin (2023) classification: Operational (O): development or application of monitoring instruments and sensing technologies. Investigative (I): analysis and interpretation of measured beekeeping data. Predictive (P): development or evaluation of forecasting and predictive modelling approaches. The final database includes 121 investigative publications, 66 operational publications, and 51 predictive publications.
