Excavations at Site LA 73249, New Mexico, were undertaken to document
additional features discovered during site monitoring. The site was originally
excavated in 1989, when several features representative of Navajo campsites
and/or activity areas were found. Samples from newly and previously excavated
features were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains to define possible
activity areas and provide subsistence information. Samples were also collected
away from the excavation units to provide controls for the pollen and flotation
samples. In addition, a number of groundstone were washed to recover pollen on
the surfaces that may identify plants ground using these groundstone.
