Whole genome sequencing of diploid and triploid bananas from Thailand

Whole genome sequencing was done for bananas from Thailand using Illumina sequencing. Diploid and triploid genomes, wild and cultivated bananas, hybrid and pure species were included in the study. The purpose of the study is to unravel the genomic composition of local cultivated bananas and their relatives in the forests of Thailand, deduce population genomic diversity parameters and trace the cultivars to their closest living relatives in the wild.
