DELTA_FISH_dataset

This image set was generated by combining images from ROV campaigns and photographs taken by recreational divers during citizen science activities. The original image set was augmented using various techniques, tripling its initial size (generating two new images with one or more modifications for each original image). The final dataset contains 2,665 images and a total of 6,940 labels, distributed as shown in the figure. The images were manually annotated using CVAT and Roboflow, following the format required by YOLO. Additionally, transformations were applied to adapt their size and resolution to the model’s requirements, while preserving consistency across the dataset. For this purpose, the ROV images were vertically split in two, resulting in 960x1080 images, a size that closely matches the square format preferred by YOLO algorithms. DELTA is a project funded by the State Secretariat for the Environment of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of the Government of Spain, under the direct grant awarded to the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for the prevention and mitigation of damage to biodiversity and natural heritage caused by the volcanic eruptions in 2021. ######### Este conjunto de imágenes fue generado combinando imágenes procedentes de campañas de ROV y fotografías tomadas por buceadores recreativos durante actividades de ciencia ciudadana. El conjunto de imágenes original fue aumentado usando estas técnicas hasta multiplicar por tres su tamaño inicial (generando dos imágenes nuevas con alguna o algunas de las modificaciones por cada imagen del conjunto original). El dataset final cuenta con 2665 imágenes y un total de 6940 etiquetas con la distribución que se observa en la figura. Las imágenes fueron anotadas manualmente mediante CVAT y Roboflow, respetando el formato requerido por YOLO. Además, se aplicaron transformaciones a las imágenes para adaptar su tamaño y resolución a lo requerido por el modelo, preservando la homogeneidad entre ellas. Para ello, se dividieron verticalmente en dos las imágenes de RÓV, generando imágenes de 960x1080, cuyo tamaño se aproxima mucho al formato cuadrado con el que trabajan los algoritmos YOLO.
