Politics and Democracy in the Federal Republic (Young People, 1968)

Attitude of non-academic young people to politics and democracy in the
FRG.

Topics: Image of society; ideas about politics and attitude to
democracy (scale); difference democracy and dictatorship; designation
of dictatorial countries; interest in politics and political
participation; party preference and party membership; interest in
membership in a party; most important political problems and importance
of areas of life; possibilities for citizens to protect fundamental
rights; class justice in the FRG; attitude to the grand coalition, the
emergency laws, the attitude of the Federal Government in the Vietnam
war, Ostpolitik, recognition of the GDR, reunification of Germany and a
leadership elite in democracy; judgement on the role of students in
society; knowledge about the situation of students; personal
participation in demonstrations; judgement on the demonstrations on the
occasion of the Shah visit; personal election participation in the
Federal Parliament election 1965; general judgement on the economic
situation; judgement on the prospects of advancement and equal
opportunities in the FRG; attitude to work; company size and change of
job; attitude to superiors; training goal and occupation orientation;
attitude to school grades and political instruction; personal
activities in student council, student newspaper or as class spokesman;
media usage; military service; membership in clubs, organizations or
youth groups; participation in club events; pocket-money and money
expenditure; friendships; family relationship of parents; authority
structure in one´s family; attitude of father to National Socialism;

Scales: fascism and dogmatism.

The questions on the topics sexual relation and type of contraception
were presented as written questionaire.

Demography: age; sex; marital status; number of children; religious
denomination; religiousness; school education; vocational training;
occupation; income; party membership; social origins; regional origins;
refugee status.
