Trees in the Eyes of Young Learners: A Study on Knowledge and Educational Methods

This dataset accompanies the article Trees in the Eyes of Young Learners: A Study on Knowledge and Educational Methods and contains the results of children’s free-listing exercises and subsequent analysis of tree species knowledge.

Sheet 1 (data):

Column 1: Informant_ID– identification number of the informant.

Column 2: order-listed-Order in which the tree species was listed by the informant.

Column 3: Tree species name in Slovak.

Column 4: Tree species name in English (translation).

Sheet 2 (salience):

Contains the coding framework used to calculate salience scores.

Provides data on the salience value of each tree species, based on frequency of mention and order of recall across informants.

The dataset allows replication of the salience analysis presented in the study, as well as further examination of children’s botanical knowledge in both Slovak and English terminology.
