Statistical Overview on Germany´s Social Policy since 1945, Issue Germany West.

More than a half century after the Second World War and after the foundation of two German states, in a comprehensive research project the German social policy of that time and the different development of the Federal Republic of Germany and the former German Democratic Republic had been reviewed academically and documented in eleven volumes structured by periods. The editors of study are the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Federal Archive. The results of the study project “History of Social Policy in Germany since 1945” are published in in eleven volumes with documentation. (Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft, Baden-Baden). The first volume gives an introduction into social policy in Germany since 1945 and explains the period structure of the whole study. The other volumes are structured by periods in the history of social policy. Volume two describes the occupation period, volume three to volume seven are about social policy in the Federal Republic of Germany until 1989, volumes eight to ten describe the development in the German Democratic Republic and volume eleven is about the German reunification and social policy until 1994. In the context of this study Hermann Berié has compiled data of the official statistics about social policy in the Western Zones and in the federal republic of Germany. His compilation was used as a facility by the authors of the study mentioned above.
