Roundtable 9, discussion, 1992-06-24

Roundtable discussion with Major General Marvin Covault, Brigadier General Kernan, and Colonel Mike Canavan of the United States Army. The discussion focused on the role and resources of the Army in relation to domestic civil disturbances; the interface between the Army and other law enforcement agencies in the Los Angeles area during the disturbance; the mobilization of the Army into the Los Angeles area; and the role of federal troops in connection with a domestic civil disturbance, 1992 June 24. PART OF SERIES: After the violence had subsided, the Webster Commission met of a variety of public officials, law enforcement personnel, activists, and community leaders to discuss the rioting, its root causes, and the adequacy of the LAPD's response. The series includes summaries of these meetings, including questions and comments along of the interviewers' own mental impressions, conclusions, and opinions.
