A novel actinomycete strain, Kutzneria chonburiensis SMC256 which developed small, globose sporangia at the ends of long sporangiophores on aerial mycelium, was isolated from soil collected in a mountain forest of Thailand. Hybrid sequencing of the MinION device from Oxford Nanopore and the Illumina sequencing technology was used to complete the bacteria genome sequence. The complete sequenced genome reveals a circular chromosome of 10,411,187 bp, and G+C content is 69.86 %. In addition, the whole-genome sequencing of Kutzneria chonburiensis SMC256 produced 9,564 protein-coding genes, 74 tRNA-coding genes, 9 rRNA coding genes, and 1 tmRNA genes. To evaluate the potential of the strain producing secondary metabolites, secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters in the genome were predicted using antiSMASH. The results showed that Kutzneria chonburiensis SMC256 contains a total of 38 clusters.
