Amphibians do not follow Bergmann's rule

Body size clines are common in vertebrates, but comprehensive data for evaluating these trends can sometimes be limited. This dataset contains body size measurements for adult Plethodon salamanders from the National Museum of Natural History, Washington D.C., USA. It includes body size measurements (snout-vent length: SVL) obtained from 96,966 individuals from 45 species of Plethodon salamander, originally collected from 3974 populations for 3213 geographic locations in the Eastern United States. For each individual, SVL was measured to the nearest 0.1 mm using Brown & Sharpe Mark IV digital calipers.

#### Description of dataset

A total of 96,966 individual salamanders from the genus Plethodon from the National Museum of Natural History, Washington D.C., USA were measured, and body size estimates were obtained (SVL).

NOTE: The precision of the Latitude and Longitude of endangered, vulnerable, and threatened species is reduced to 1 degree, 0.1 degrees, and 0.001 degrees, respectively, in accordance with GBIF guidelines.,
