This dataset provides nighttime chemical heating rates for seven major exothermic reactions in the upper mesosphere–lower thermosphere (UMLT) region over the altitude range of 80–100 km at 22:00 local solar time, for the period 2003–2011. The seven reactions are: (R1) H + O₃ → OH + O₂, (R2) H + O₂ + M → HO₂ + M, (R3) HO₂ + O → OH + O₂, (R4) OH + O → H + O₂, (R5) O + O + M → O₂ + M, (R6) O + O₂ + M → O₃ + M, and (R7) O + O₃ → 2O₂. The heating rates were retrieved from SCIAMACHY OH (9–6) limb emission observations combined with collocated SABER temperature and ozone profiles. Einstein coefficients were taken from the HITRAN-2020 database. The data are processed as monthly zonal medians in 5° latitude bins on 7 altitude levels with a vertical spacing of ~3.3 km. This dataset is associated with the paper "A new data set of nighttime chemical heating rates in the upper mesosphere and lower thermosphere derived from SCIAMACHY OH (9–6) emissions and SABER profiles" submitted to Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics (ACP).
