The DNA fractions of L1 and Alu retroelements' flanking sequences from various brain samples (the cerebellum, the frontal cortex, the subventricular zone and the dentate gyrus) and the myocardium of a single individual are sequenced on the Illumina platform. Mapping these sequences to the reference genome reveals the coordinates of the insertions present in the DNA of each sample. The coordinates found in one of the samples only represent potentially somatic insertions.
