The U.S. Census Bureau collects 18 national economic indicators on this dashboard to assess the current strength of the nation's economy. These metrics include: Construction spending Advance International Trade: Goods Advance Retail Inventories Advance Wholesale Inventories New Residential Sales Advance Report Durable Goods New Residential Construction Business Inventories Advance Monthly Retail Sales Selected Services Revenue Monthly Wholesale Inventories Business Formation Statistics Quarterly Profits - Retailers Quarterly Profits - Manufacturers International Trade: Goods & Services Manufacturers' Goods Homeownership Rate Rental Vacancy Rate All figures are updated either on a quarterly or monthly basis, with monthly figures lagging by 1 - 3 months and quarterly figures lagging by 1 quarter. The dashboard shows both the level and change in the most recent two periods. Users can view a press release for each figure that provides greater context from the Census Bureau on the numbers and trends. Users can also click on the "I Want To..." button at the bottom right of each indicator tile to download the data as an Excel file, view the data in chart form, view the data in a time series trend chart, fetch RSS feeds, or get an email update for that indicator.
