Dynamics and stage-specificity of between-population gene expression divergence in the Drosophila melanogaster larval fat body (pooled RNA-seq in a derived and an ancestral population)

We used RNA-seq to examine coding and non-coding gene expression variation in the larval fat body of an ancestral African and a derived European Drosophila melanogaster population across three developmental stages spanning ten hours of larval development. Overall design: Gene expression profiles of a Zambian (ZI, 10 isofemal strains) and a Dutch (NL, 12 isofemale strains) population of D. melanogaster. RNA-seq data was generated for pooled population samples of dissected female larval fat bodies in 3 larval/prepupal stages (early and late wandering third instar larvae and white prepupae) with 3 biological replicates per population and stage.
