Integrated transcriptome and metabolome profiling reveal the mechanism of pink petals formation in rose

Pink rose is one of the most popular ornamental plants, greatly favored by people. In this study, two progenies of rose with distinct pink hues (light pink and dark pink) were selected as research materials. Key differential periods were identified through phenotypic analysis of flower color. Combined analysis of metabolite profiling and transcriptome sequencing was employed to screen for key genes and metabolites influencing anthocyanin biosynthesis. Candidate genes related to pigment synthesis in the rose petals were validated using qRT-PCR. By providing comprehensive phenotypic and omics data, our research has further expanded the understanding of the coloration mechanism in pink rose petals and laid a foundation for the future breeding of roses with superior pink flower traits.
