Transcriptional changes associated with functioning and non-functioning Pituitary adenomas.

The reasons why some pituitary adenomas are fucntioning(secreting hormones) or not is not well understood. This analysis dig into the transcriptomes of secreting and non-secreting corticotropic adenomas as well as non-fucntioning gonadotropic adenomas. Overall design: Human pituitary adenomas were banked following surgical resection (MCW brain tumor bank). Classification of the pituitary adenomas was done on clinical presentation, complemented by pathology analysis.mRNA was extarcted and RNA-sequencing was performed.
