Gillnetting and longlining for North Atlantic skate

Over the period of this project we have found out one important aspect of large barndoor skates. These fish are already overfished. The abundance skates was just not there. One thing we did find was that large mesh gillnets (12 inch mesh) had virtually no bycatch of groundfish. The only fish caught were large monkfish and an ocassional super large greysole flounder.
