Melatonin decreases extremely high glucose induced mesothelial cell injury

From initial RNAseq analysis, we found that a significant number of genes associated with inflammatory responses and related to mitochondrial structure and function were altered by high-glucose, while these changes were attenuated by melatonin treatment. Mesothelial cells were treated with normal or 236mM glucose in the presence or absence of 200mM melatonin and cells were collected after 6 and 12 hours.
