Data of soil gross protein depolymerization rates

Depolymerization, the initial step in converting high-molecular-weight organic N (such as proteins) into amino acids and inorganic N, is a crucial driver of soil N availability and plant productivity. Despite its importance, the patterns and controlling factors of this process have remained largely unexplored. We constructed a global dataset of SON depolymerization, synthesizing 275 observations from 27 published papers.
