1145 metagenome-assembled microbial genomes from coastal northern Baltic Sea

Coastal regions are production hot spots, as the pulsed mix of freshwater and saline water cause favorable growth conditions for many organisms. Here we used surface water metagenomic sequencing datasets to construct metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from 86 river-estuary-coast water samples in the northern Baltic Sea. The assembly can be useful to study diversity, structure and function of the coastal microbial community, especially to estimate how microbial communities respond and are adapted to shifting environmental conditions in coastal ecosystems under climate change.
