DOSS Treated Mouse Plasma Adipokine and Cytokine Levels

Pregnant dams were treated at day E11.5 with either 62.5 ug/mL DOSS in drinking water or 0.5% carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) in drinking water through weaning of pups. Pups were then given normal drinking water until time of sacrifice. Plasma was collected from sacrifice animals and analyzed for adipokine and cytokine levels including Adiponectin, Leptin, Insulin, IL-6 and TNF-alpha. Treated animals exhibit increased IL-6 and TNF-alpha levels in conjunction with decreased Adiponectin levels consistent with a metabolic disruption phenotype and glucose intolerance which was observed in these animals. No changes were observed in plasma leptin and insulin levels, suggesting glucose intolerance is not due to altered insulin levels.
