ASSESSMENT OF RENAL FUNCTIONAL RESERVE IN THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE

In the early stages of the development of renal failure, a decrease in the renal functional reserve (RFR) is observed, particularly a reduced ability to increase the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in response to protein load. At this stage, there are no symptoms of impaired kidney function. Further reduction in the number of functioning nephrons (down to 30% of normal) leads to more pronounced kidney dysfunction—an increase in nitrogenous metabolites, electrolyte imbalance, development of anemia, etc.
