Digital Archive from an Archaeological Watching Brief at Southend Airport Solar Farm, Essex, November 2015

This collection comprises image, text, spreadsheet and CAD data from an Archaeological Watching Brief at Southend Airport Solar Farm, Essex. This work was undertaken by Archaeology South-East in November 2015. A watching brief was conducted during the excavation of two cable trenches in the north portion of the proposed solar farm. The LV cable trench, measuring 63 metres x 0.60 metres x 0.85 metres was dug along the east side. Adjacent to this, another trench was dug for the DC cable/earthing works, which continued along the north and west boundaries of the site. The monitored portion of the second trench measured approximately 330 metres x 0.30 metres x 0.70-0.90 metres. Five small areas of archaeological remains were located during the excavation of the DC cable/earthing trench, in the vicinity of features located during the previous trench evaluation.
