Haemophilus influenzae PittJJ. Sequenced and assembled using technology developed by 454 Life Sciences, Inc. (www.454.com). The genome sequence is currently comprised of 71 contigs. Strain PittJJ is a non-typeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi) isolate recovered by Dr. Robert Wadowsky from the middle-ear effusion of a child in Pittsburgh who was undergoing tympanostomy and ventilation tube placement for the treatment of chronic otitis media with effusion (COME). In the chinchilla model, PittJJ infection induces COME but does not cause systemic disease.
