Qualitative and quantitative samples of macrobenthic fauna were collected to establish an annual monitoring network and to assess the conservation status of the studied areas. A total of 59 macrozoobenthos samples were collected from the Sf. Gheorghe branch, including both cut-offs and meanders. To evaluate the ecological status of benthic populations in the rectified meander sectors of the Sf. Gheorghe branch, an additional 59 quantitative benthic samples were collected between September and November 2020 using a Van Veen grab.
