The ability of resveratrol to attenuate ovalbumin-mediated allergic asthma is associated with changes in microbiota involving the gut-lung axis

We evaluated the alteration in gut-lung microbiome axis in ovaalbumin-induced asthma mouse model treated by resveratrol Overall design: We induced asthma in Balb/c mice by challenging them with ovalbumin intraperitoneally and intranasally then treated them by resveratrol. The pulmonary function test was done, the bronchoalveolar lavage done and the level of cytokines was measured, the level of mucin protein in the lung epithelial cells was shown . The gut and lung microbiome were analyzed along with the measuremnet of short chain fatty acids.Then the tight junction integrity was assessed by evaluation of tight junction protein gene expression and transepithelial electrical resistance.
