资源简介:
This study aims to identify the types of metaphors and meanings contained in Mark Tuan's song lyrics. It is a qualitative descriptive study, focusing on the metaphors and types of meanings found in the lyrics. The data source comprises five songs by Mark Tuan: "One in a Million," "Last Breath," "My Life," "Far Away," and "Lonely." Researchers utilized Lakoff and Johnson's (1980) theory of metaphor types and Leech's (1974) theory to analyze the meanings of the metaphors in Mark Tuan's lyrics. The results of the study reveal the presence of three types of metaphors in Mark Tuan's lyrics: structural metaphors (36%), orientational metaphors (31%), and ontological metaphors (33%). The meanings derived from these metaphors are categorized as conceptual (20.52%), connotative (16.04%), collocative (15.67%), social (16.04%), affective (16.04%), and reflected meanings (15.67%). This research highlights how metaphors enhance the emotive and interpretative depth of song lyrics, providing a richer understanding of Mark Tuan's lyrical creativity.
