Data, analysis notes and code supporting the Perspective “Search is cheap, selection is costly”. The package contains: (A) a memory-leakage test of GPT-5.4 (84 answers, blind ratings); (B) a primary-source priority audit of 15 materials breakthroughs; (C) blind evaluation of 216 answers from a synthetic benchmark (v11); (D) a photoanode idea-generation pilot with blind rating; (E) the protocol for a planned “how many paths?” experiment.
