资源简介:
Our project seeks to recover diverse genetic resources from microbiomes and focus on their inherent bacteriophages as potential sources of antibacterial enzymes. The emerging and re-emerging interest in phage research has revealed a wide range of phage hydrolytic enzymes deployed by phages during their replication cycle. Their modes of action have been attractive for further development as alternative strategies to combat bacteria amidst this evolution of multidrug resistant bacterial pathogens with infectious and food poisoning propensity. This project utilizes multiple omics recipes to utilize the genomes and downstream genetic products to design and develop novel antibacterial agents from East African isolates.
