Mitochondrial dysfunction causes biophysical, metabolic and signalling changes that alter homeostasis and reprogram cells. We used a Drosophila model in which TFAM is overexpressed in the nervous system with or without knock-down of the ER UPR transcription factor ATF4, to investigate the how mitochondrial dysfunction and ER stress signalling affect the transcriptome. mRNA profiles of Drosophila CNS with mitochondrial dysfunction, ATF4 overexpression, and mitochondrial dysfunction with ATF4 knock-down were generated by RNA sequencing, in quadruplicate, using the Illumina NextSeq 500.
