This dataset contains raw data collected under controlled pool conditions using a GoPro Hero 9 stereo camera system to assess the effects of horizontal field-of-view (H-FOV) on stereo-overlap area and length measurement accuracy. The stereo setup had a 500 mm base separation, 5° convergence angle, and cameras configured at 4:3 aspect ratio with 1920 × 1440 pixel resolution. Data are organised into three sub-datasets corresponding to main analyses in the associated manuscript: 1) Quantifying stereo-overlap area: X (horizontal displacement from optical centre, mm) and Z (forward distance along the viewing axis, mm) coordinates for the minimum overlap point and the left and right edges of the stereo field at 3.5 m from the camera system, for each H-FOV setting (Narrow, Linear, Wide). These coordinates can be used to calculate planar stereo-overlap area.2) Measurement accuracy: measurement error for three target sizes (339.7, 575.8, and 915.5 mm), measured across 0.5 - 4.0 m and at centre, left, and right frame positions for each H-FOV setting 3) Spatial distribution of error: raw percentage measurement error values for the 339.7 mm target, measured at 0.5 m intervals and in 250 mm increments from the frame centre to the edges (Mid X), across each H-FOV setting An R script used for the analysis of each of these sub-datasets is inlcuded.
