Survey dataset on the living conditions of rural children in China

This dataset originates from a longitudinal study of 976 rural preschool children aged 0-3 years in China. The project aims to explore key factors influencing the healthy development of infants and young children in impoverished rural areas. Data collection was conducted between December 2017 and July 2018. The project specifically focused on caregiver diversity, incorporating primary caregivers such as parents and grandparents to comprehensively assess the impact of different caregivers on child development. The study captured nuances in caregiving practices through the Q-sorting Parenting Practices Scale. The Attachment Q-scale (AQS) quantified the quality of emotional bonds between caregivers and children, while the Age-Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) comprehensively assessed developmental levels across language, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, problem solving, and personal-social domains.
