Parkia platycephala and Stryphnodendron pulcherrimum were grown in four substrates collected from the Carajas Mineral Province (CMP), Para, Brazil. The region is rich in iron ore deposits (subject to mining activities) and the iron outcrop (canga) vegetation occurs on mountain tops inserted in a matrix of evergreen or seasonal forests. An area of canga, an adjacent forest and two mine wastes (Red waste and Yellow waste) were chosen for substrate collect. After 45 days, leaf samples were harvested for de novo transcriptome assemblies and further differential expression analysis.
