Gender Representation at Turkish legislature

Dataset contain 557 private members' bills initiated by the MPs across political parties in the Turkish legislature. Private members bills dataset are created to examine statistical association between party label and gender of MP and enactment of gender-related PMBs at the legislative level. It is argued that number and gender of signature proposed PMBs regarding gender issue is more likely to be enacted if average number of male signatures and total number of signature increase. Paper also asserts that beyond the left-right division among political parties which currently advocated as the main independent variable in examining gender representation at legislative level in the gender and politics literature, incumbency is more important predictor. Logistic regression analysis is conducted between enactment of PMBs and several independent and control variables including; average number of male signatures, total number of signatures, party identity, incumbency, type of committee assignment and numerical presence of average number of female legislators across political parties.
