A dataset of plant community dynamics in the free-grazing plot at the National Field Research Station at the Northern Foot of Yinshan Mountain (2009-2018)

The Yinshan Mountain northern grassland is an important ecological security barrier in the northern part of the national ecological security framework. The region is mainly for grazing.Understanding the characteristics of plant communities under grazing conditions is of great significance for exploring the primary productivity, biodiversity, and the recovery of degraded grassland. In this paper, we collated the field survey data of plant communities in the free-grazing plot at the National Field Research Station at the Northern Foot of Yinshan Mountain from August 2009 to 2018. The dataset covers plant species composition, height, coverage, density and aboveground dry biomass. The dataset strictly adhered to the quality control standards and specifications for grassland plant community surveys, including field investigations, laboratory measurements, data entry, and quality control procedures.This dataset is expected to provide a scientific basis and data support for the management and ecological restoration of the Yinshan Mountain northern grassland.
