Climate change and Infectious diseases in Sylhet, Bangladesh

We examined six
infectious diseases based on clinical and laboratory diagnosis (malaria,
enteric fever, encephalitis, diarrheal disease, pneumonia and meningitis) to
offer a broader scope on the trend of these conditions and their possible
relation to climate change in Bangladesh. Our findings support a relationship
between weather patterns and disease incidence, and provide essential baseline
data for future large prospective studies. We believe that the findings will be
of interest to public health experts and policy makers to stimulate effective
measures to combat infectious diseases and related epidemics in climate change
related vulnerable countries.
