Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, which encompasses a variety of economically significant crops, collectively known as cucurbits. The regulation of defense mechanisms against herbivores, along with osmotic losses and environmental regulation, is greatly affected by trichomes in cucumbers. However, the molecular mechanism of the response of foliar application of different chemicals and the key regulatory genes for specific biological processes are poorly understand.
