Respiratory infections hit kids hard all over the world. They are one of those things that send children to the doctor a lot, or even to the hospital sometimes. Schools miss out too because kids stay home sick. These can be simple colds that go away on their own, but then there are scarier ones down in the lungs like pneumonia or bronchiolitis that might need real help. What makes children so open to this stuff? Their immune systems are still growing, not like adults where everything is set. Airways in kids are tiny, so even a little swelling blocks them up fast. Plus, being around other kids in school or daycare spreads germs quick. Hygiene is not always great, and if nutrition is off, that weakens things more. It seems like everything lines up to make them vulnerable.
