The 2000 and 2018 forest metrics, including percentage forest
cover (�), mean forest patch size (MPS) and mean distance to forest edge (MDE)
between: (1) China’s national nature forest reserves and their
surrounding areas, (2) reserves designated in different periods (i.e.,
before 2000, 2000‒2009,
and 2010‒2018), and (3) reserve zones (i.e.,
core, buffer, and transition).
