(Non-)parallelism of cichlids' gut microbiota

The goal of this study was to better understand gut microbiota dynamics during early stages of ecological diversification and speciation. To achieve this, we analyzed the gut microbiota (V4 region of the 16s rRNA gene) of extremely young adaptive radiations of Nicaraguan Midas cichlid fish (Amphilophus cf. citrinellus) from two crater lakes and their source lakes as well as bacterial communities of the lake water for all these lakes.
