Novel urban amoebae transcriptome sequencing

Our environment is constantly undergoing urbanization and very little biological work is done to characterize those new urban environments. We discovered and sequenced transcriptomes from novel amoebae genera discovered in between sidewalk cracks, which are rarely sampled and represent an artificial extreme soil environment. These transcriptomes show that these amoebae are indeed among novel genera and demonstrate that there is still diversity to be found in urbanized environments, despite the destruction of macrohabitats.
