In 2021, 43.2 percent of plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) on U.S. roads was a midsize car, while small sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) accounted for 17 percent of on-road plug-in electric vehicles in the U.S. California remained the largest market with more plug-in electric vehicles than any other state.
