Complete panicle exsertion is an important trait in rice breeding programs as it enhances the yield as well as grain filling. However, this trait has not been used extensively in breeding programs, as only a few QTLs/genes have been reported yet. In this study, we have revealed the expressed transcripts for understanding the phenomenon of panicle exsertion in rice. RNA-seq in the flag leaf just before panicle initiation stage (PI) was carried out in mega variety BPT-5204(Incomplete panicle exsertion line) and it's EMS mutants viz. CPE-109 and CPE-110 (complete panicle exsertion lines).
