The goal of this study was A) to compare the global RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) profiles data of the neurovascular units constructed in i) conventional cell cultures (n=4), ii) Cortical Brain-Chips cultured under constant flow (n=4), and iii) human adult brain-derived contex (n=8) retrieved from the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) Portal. Overall design: Global RNA expression profiles of Brain-Chips day 5 and 7 (n=4, Brain Channel); Conventional cell culture systems day 5 and 7 (n=4 brain side) were generated by deep sequencing using Illumina HiSeq 4000.
