Burkholderia pseudomallei 1026b. Burkholderia pseudomallei is the etiologic agent of the disease melioidosis and is classified as an NIH/NIAID category B priority pathogen. Burkholderia pseudomallei 1026b was isolated in Thailand in 1993 from the blood of a patient with septicemic melioidosis and has become one of the most commonly used pseudomallei clinical strains in laboratory experiments.
